The long-gone businesses on the square corner at the time on the right side of E. Potomac starting with Ephraim's Liquors are The Lace Store, Darr's Tavern, S.N. Katz and Bank of Brunswick.
This photo is believed to have been from an article in the old Washington Star newspaper. The two young men standing in front of the store are Marty Mock and Gerald Stewart.
