From Chief Milt Frech: Former Chief Stone passed last year and I attended his service. I knew Chief Stone not from his days at BPD but from his career after BPD at the Frederick County Sheriff's Office and the Sheriff's Youth Ranch. I also played softball with and against Chief Stone for many year, up to 2015

Obituary: Richard K. Stone, 72, of Keedysville, Maryland passed away, on June 12, 2017.

He served in the US Army and was a 25 year veteran of the Montgomery County Police Department. He also served as chief of police of Brunswick, Maryland and Lewes, Delaware. He was an executive director of the Maryland Sheriff's Youth Ranch and served as bailiff for the Washington County District Court.

He had a lifelong passion for playing baseball and softball.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol, son Richard K. Stone, Jr., daughter, Sandra Lynn Stone, Grandson, Jason Lee Grossnickle and great grandson Karter Mason Grossnickle. He is also survived by sisters, Debra Perrell, Sandra Earp, Janice Earp and Vera Gist. Also several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

Friends will be received on Saturday at the funeral home one hour prior to services.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Richard's name to a charity of one's choice.
