Summary

Not only did train wrecks create a mess on the tracks and endanger lives, they generated much paperwork. This item is just the first page of a ten page document detailing a freight train derailment in Sykesville, Maryland on this date in 1949. Note the monetary total of the loss, not including the engine, to be $67,950. Certainly a lot of money in 1949.
