Summary

Episcopalians in Brunswick initially attended St. Mark's Parish in Petersville, but as growth exploded with the advent of the new railroad town, the need for a new church within the community also grew. Depicted in this print, Grace Chapel was built at the southwest corner of A Street and 2nd Avenue and was consecrated on September 12, 1893. E. Virginia Wenner, born in 1892, was the first child baptized in the new chapel.

The brick structure occupied approximately one-fourth the area of the present church. Bricks from the mother church, St. Mark's, were used in the construction. The chapel was razed in 1922 to make way for a larger church, the present structure built on the same site.
