Betty Fitez was one of the first policewomen in Brunswick. She was a familiar, beloved face as school crossing guard for BES students in the 1960s.

Janice Marsh: Betty Fitez was dearly loved by all the kids who walked to and from BES. She gave my sister's, Penny and Sandra, the nicknames of Henny Penny and Chicken Little.
