Summary
In a handwritten note by Mrs. Lula McMurry, from whose estate this photo came, she wrote: "Reverend Luther Martin and Reverend Thomas A. Hart issuing awards to soldiers returned home from World War One - 1918." The photo was taken in Brunswick City Park. 7th Avenue is visible at the top of the picture.
Note also the local African-American "Buffalo Soldiers" on the right side of the group. They were still mourning the loss of Pvt. Charles Streams, the first Brunswick casualty of WWI.
Among the soldiers listed on another note were Laurence Haller, Arthur Sulcer, Edgar Shelton, Ronnell Davis, Luther B. Darr, Zeke Wenner, Frank Barker, Lynch Gross, Louis Camilla, Thomas Rockwell, Grayson Cummings, Harris Danner, Edgar Virts, Rex Woernle, Dr. Haster, Mr. Charles Feete.
