"BRUNSWICK, MD"

(Written for the Blade-Times)

By Raymond G. Barger

Our boys are back! Despite our fear, With laughing eye and cheer Yes, They are "over here" It seems like many a year They crossed the briny blue You've heard how they were true! Thank God, they're living still! Our boys are back! With serious mein. As though each one has seen And talked with death, 'mid screen And lurking foe, all massed between And shot and shell; And carnage - yea, of hell! Thank God, they're living still. Our boys are back! Alas! not all! It was the lot of some to fall For them the honored wreath and pall And in the other hand the bugle call! Of those who died to right great wrong; For them we raise the victor's song. For them we sound last "Taps," But ah! there's no perhaps Thank God, they're living still.

The Pilgrims they came From all our nation. To built big yards of Classification. Over the mountains Winding along streams. With food - energy Wheels turned - puffing steam. They build their own roads Their money earned - spent. Nation expanded People came and went. Built gravity humps In both directions. It all worked so well Just like perfection. Funnel in reverse One in - Many out. Deliver the goods What it's all about. Old Berlin changed name Town of Brunswick born. Won Wars-One and Two Divided world torn.

Then came the big trucks Run on tax paid roads. Price regulations Must barter for loads. They called it progress Rails could not compete. Senators made laws With hidden deceit. Now we are challenged Science must advance. Implement ideas Future to enhance. So in summation This nation should know. These Genes are still here And raring to go. 203
