examine into the matter and all I ask is to be placed upon equal footing with the other houses according to the value of property furnished. I think it would be the interest of the canal company not to charge ground rent on grain houses doing business on the canal as it would encourage the building of warehouses and increase the trade of the canal but at the same I think it right to charge ground rent on stores but not grain houses though the above is only my views which I do not urge upon the board of directors.
