of the speedy completion of the Washington Rail Road, and of the immediate extension of the Ohio Rail Road to Harper"s Ferry. It deserves to be remarked that a large majority of the stock was represented at the meeting, and that the proceedings were characterized, in reference to the Compromise Law, with a perfect unanimity, and in relation to the Washington Rail Road Law, with a decision nearly as emphatic. -

MEETING OF STOCKHOLDERS OF THE BALTIMORE & OHIO RAIL ROAD COMPANY. At a general meeting of the Stockholders of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road Company, convened on the 8th instant at the Exchange, in the city of Baltimore, by public notice duly given according to the provisions of the charter of the said Company, to take into consideration an act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at December session 1832., entitled 'an act to provide for the continuation of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road to Harpers Ferry and fOI' other purposes,-' and also 'an act passed at the same session of the General Assembly entitled •a further supplement to an act to promote internal improvement by the construction of a Rail Road from Baltimore to the city of Washing_ton,." - JESSE HUNT,. Esq_. was appointed chairman,. and CHARLES CARROLL HARPER, Esq. Secretary. The meeting having taken into consideration the acts of Assembly herein above recited,_ J. I. Donaldson,. Esq_. offered the foHowing resolution.

Resolved, That the assent of this company be and the same is hereby

given to the act of the General Assembly aforesaid, entitled "an act to provide for the continuation of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road to Harper"s "Ferry and for other purposes,• and that the President and Directors communicate the acceptance thereof by this company to the Governor of the State, under the corporate seal of the company, and the signatures of the said President and Directors, on or before the 10th day of May 1833, according to the provisions of the said act. Which resolution was unanimously adopted. 2
