According to Wade Watson: “Southern Railway 2-8-2 #4501. In the summer of 1973 it pulled the &quot;Independence Limited&quot; excursion between DC and Chicago. I&#039;m sure this is a photo of the service and crew change from that trip.”

Directly behind the tender was an auxillery-water only tender.
