Charles Barnard Karn came to Brunswick about 1910 to join the firm of Jeremiah P. Karn &amp;amp; Bros., then owned by two of his brothers who managed the lumber yard on South Maryland Avenue. His finest design and building achievement is the Gothic stone Grace Episcopal Church on “A” Street. He is also credited with houses in the area of Delaware Avenue, “B” and “C” Streets, Brunswick’s Beth Israel synagogue (the first in Frederick County), the Reformed Church of Brunswick, and numerous homes, apartments and other buildings. &lt;br /&gt;

CHARLES BERNARD KARN, a prominent contractor of Brunswick, died at his late home Tuesday morning at 2.30 o&amp;#039;clock, after an illness of more than three months, aged 71 years.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lula V. Karn, and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Frederick M. Cramer, Baltimore; Clarence B. Karn, Washington; Mrs.John Stickley, Washington, D.C.; G. Brisco Karn, Baltimore; Mrs. Earl T. Cate, Brunswick; Miss Evonne Karn and Louis C. Karn, both at home. Also the following brothers and sisters survive: J.P. Karn, Brunswick; M.A. Karn, Hagerstown; Wm. A. Karn, Burkittsville; Mrs. B.S. Long, Brunswick, and Mrs. Edgar Mickley, McKnightstown, Pa.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Mr. Karn has been in the contracting business as a builder in Brunswick for eighteen years. Prior to that he was employed by the Luke Pulp and Paper Mill Co, of Piedmont, W.Va, as a builder. He was highly esteemed and a progressive citizen.&lt;br /&gt;
