According to Norm Cornelius, who worked at the store in the late-1950s:
Teddy Phillips had taken the business over in 1958 or close to that year. He had worked there for years as a Meat Cutter and other duties. He at one time also drove the delivery truck. I don’t know what kind of agreement he had with the Wenner Family but he had taken over the business. I worked there after graduating, took Eddie Flora job when he went into the Army. I left in October for the Navy. Teddy was great to work for. After the store
burned we did move across the street. I believe after that winter Teddy closed and worked as a Meat Cutter in Frederick…

According to Peter Wenner:
i’m not sure what the agreement was after my grandfather died in early 1959 before the fire. My suspicion is that as meat cutter, Teddy was trusted enough by the family that my grandmother allowed him to take over the business across the street after the store burned.
