According to Mrs. Barker, "On the one with dutch-boy cut (no natural curl), I was almost 6 and attending the Catholic School for first grade because my birthday was the 18th of December and you needed to be “6” by December 1. I wanted to go to school like my friends. My parents were not wealthy but they had $7 per month for me to go to school a year."
