Pwenner: Dr. JGF Smith shows off a new pair of cowboy boots, likely outside his back porch in the 1940s.

It might have been a challenge for the good doctor to get up and down those steep steps in those boots!

Great man.. our family doctor as well until about 13.. then it was Dr. Pruitt. Remember Doc Smiths shakey hand.. giving me a penicillin shot in my butt..lol.

Although we saw him in church, I think I only went to him a couple times when I really young. I can remember the smell of his cigars. As a little kid, I thought he looked like Alfred Hitchcock. In this photo, he does!

Doris Kelley Barker
This is before my memory of our great Dr. Smith. He came from Annapolis, our capital of Maryland and a graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine == a very smart guy. Our family loved him so very much and he was wonderful to us. We loved his wife and daughter and grandson.
He & Mrs. Smith were at our wedding November 23, 1950 at the United Methodist Church. When Wayne and I walked down the aisle, he stepped out and said to the congregation “I was the first one to smack her and I will be the first one to kiss her as Mrs. Wayne Barker”. Everyone roared and it was wonderful that he did that. When I was 9, had to have tonsils removed. No money at that time but he said it was necessary. My parents felt that Dr.. Smith paid for it for me—he was amazing.
He was my doctor from the moment of birth until older teen years. Once when I had severe stomach pains, my mom called him late at night wondering what to do. He told her to bring me to his house and he met us at the back door!
We live in his house on Petersville Rd- that could be the back of the house. The height to the porch looks right!
