The Howard Marvin Jones House in Petersville - 1950s?

We have this information on the house, courtesy of Jody Brumage: Construction of the house began around 1913-1914 by Dr. Samuel Claggett (who formerly lived at Oakland in Petersville). The property was purchased by Howard Marvin Jones and his wife, Mabel Clarke Pierce, in 1920 from Dr. Claggett's widow, Jeanette.

Howard Marvin Jones came to Brunswick in 1896 and established a dry goods store in partnership with Austin Robinson, eventually expanding his business to Charles Town, Winchester, and Frederick. In 1908, Jones was appointed Magistrate by Governor Crothers. He was a director of the Peoples National Bank and member of several fraternal organizations in Brunsiwck including the Masons, Red Men, Eagles, and Knights of Pythias.

The Jones Family lived in this house for over 40 years. Laid out in the traditional American Foursquare plan, the Howard Marvin Jones House is designed in Colonial Revival style. In 2014, the house was placed on the register of the Frederick County Landmarks Foundation.
