The Marker Family farmed the adjoining land and William's son, Dora managed the store. Dora's wife, Mabel Fern Marker was a school teacher at the old Locust Valley school and together, they built a beautiful home across Marker Road in Locust Valley from the store building.<br />

Edwin and Mary Freed managed the store until it closed in the mid-1960s. The Marker/Freed Store Building remains today a great example of rural commercial architecture. The building retains its warehouse, store room, and dwelling space for the storekeeper's family. It is a residence today.<br />
