Built in 1829, Resurrection Reformed Church in Burkittsville was used as a house of worship for over 150 years. Today, the old church is home to the South Mountain Heritage Society. Exhibits at the museum, which chronicle the history of the town, include manuscripts, photographs, textiles, and artifacts ranging in date from the early-19th century through the present.

Visitors can also take a guided tour of the church. Highlights include stories about the church's use as a field hospital during the Civil War and its unique pipe organ, one of the oldest in the state of Maryland.
