New page

== Summary ==
I'm dedicating this posting to 1980 graduate Carl Butler who passed away suddenly awhile back.
At the time Carl was helping neighbors in the Burkittsville community with an event. He joined them later for a celebration where he suddenly collapsed. Neighbors called 911 and rushed to his aid and began CPR but to no avail.”
I and many others can testify to Carl's character which was one of kindness and caring, who was able to find the good in others. He was a gentle soul who loved art and expressed himself through his paintings and sketches.
Carl brightened up everyone’s day who knew him as a student, a friend, a co-worker and of course as a family member. The world seems a little bit dimmer since he no longer walks among us.
Former BHS English teacher Pam Clark told me this sweet anecdote about Carl in her class room one day.
"He was a sweet kid. I remember one day in class he was doing seat work, really concentrating, and without looking up he said to me, "Mom, can you come here a minute?"
The class laughed, he blushed (I mean, come on a Black kid, white teacher) but I felt really special." ;=)!
