Pwenner: On the right was the tall Wenner's Hill neighborhood Christmas Tree at 605 N. Maple Avenue in 1959.

For years in the 1950s and '60s, the Charles Harrington family decorated a huge pine tree in their yard at 605 N. Maple Avenue where neighborhood children performed “The Christmas Story,” recited the “Night Before Christmas,” and sang carols. Afterwards, Santa greeted the kids with “Christmas Boxes”, which included a bag of hard candy and an orange.

Pretty cool seeing the house I grew up in. I remember that Dave would hang those Christmas lights with such passion when I was a kid.
We had the best time every Christmas. I remember being in the plays, singing carols, and being with all the Wenner's Hill gang. Couldn't wait to get home and dig into the box of candy and eat the orange.
Living on Wenner's Hill was a wonderful childhood. We all were family no matter the ages. I will always cherish living on Wenner's Hill. Lots of wonderful memories.
