New page

== Summary ==
1904: The Sanborn map shows vacant lots where the hardware store, the 308 residence, and the former furniture store (now an apartment building) currently are on West Potomac Street.

1910: The Sanborn map shows all of the current buildings on the south side of the 300 block of Wenner (now West Potomac) St. However, house numbers are not listed. The census taker recorded families in the following order in this area. (Note that the numbers refer to the order in which the families were enumerated, not the street address):
•	147: Charles and Louise Mills and their 7 children. Engineer, locomotive.
•	148: Harry and Lena George. Retail store, hardware. (The hardware store was built in 1907. I believe the Georges lived upstairs.)
•	149: Roy and Carrie Grams and their 4 children. Brakeman, Railroad.
•	150: George and Maggie Hood and their 2 children. Painter, B&O Railroad. [Note: the Hood family lived at this address, later identified at 314, until 1992 when the last member of this family died.]
Because the Grams family was listed between Georges and Hoods, I think it is reasonable to assume that they were living at 308 at this time, and were the first residents of that home.

1920: The census taker recorded the following families on Wenner (now West Potomac) Street in this order (again, addresses were not noted):
•	12 (4 pages before the next 4 names): Charles P. and Florence Haley and their 4 children (who are listed). Charles was a machinist on the RR. [See 1930 census below.]
•	82: Harry and Lena George and their son. Merchant, hardware store.
•	83: Rubin and Eva Davis and their 3 children. Hebrew. Immigrated from Prussia n 1906. Junk dealer.
•	84: Harvey and Bessie Gardner and their son. Clerk, Railroad.
•	85: George and Myrtle Hood and their 2 children.
If the census take went from the hardware store to 308 to the (former) furniture store to the Hoods (314), and if there was a family living in the furniture store, then it is reasonable to assume that the Davis family was living at 308 in 1920. (Davises and Gardners were listed as living in separate houses, not the same house.)

1930: Finally, the census taker took the time to write down addresses. Two families were living at 308:
•	Chas. P and Florence Haley and their 16-year old daughter. He was a machinist on the railroad
•	Their daughter Etta P. and her husband Morten Deitz. He was a clerk with the railroad.

1940: Occupants of 308:
•	Charles Haley. 58 yo. Machinist on the railroad.
•	Florence Haley. 58 yo.
•	Etta Seitz, their daughter. 27. (Listed as being married, but her husband is not listed here.)
•	Tommie Seitz, grandson, 9.
•	Shirley Wheeler, granddaughter, 10.

1940 - 2003 (63 years): Fill in the blank… (Jason Ricketts, son of Abbie Ricketts, owner and operator of the former hardware store next door, may be able to give you some information about this time period.)

From ____ - 2003: Owner: Jason Ricketts

2003 - 2005: Owner: Judith Victoria Grace

2005 - 2010: Owner: Campmed Casualty and Indemnity

2010 - 2019: Ionia LLC (in Vienna, VA).

2019 - Jennifer and Jeff Mays and 7 year old daughter, moved from Frederick
