William G. Care has been a lifetime resident of Brunswick, serving in the Air Force in World War II and working on the B&O in the car yards and as a freight conductor. His business ventures were the Vets Cab and Amoco Service Station on Petersville Road. He was in the latter business when the Brunswick Ambulance Company had its start. Bill and a few Civil Air Patrol members purchased a secondhand ambulance. Later, funds were acquired for the new ambulance building. Bill spent many volunteer hours as president of Brunswick Potomac Foundation Model Railroad Club to help get the Museum’s layout in working order.

Mr. WILLIAM GRAHAM "Bill" CARE, 74, of 214 Ninth Ave., Brunswick, died Saturday, Oct. 5, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Edna R. Kline Care. Born April 12, 1917, in Bolivar, WV, he was a son of the late William Thomas and Mary Catherin Graham Care.

He was a member of New York Hill Methodist Church, Brunswick. He was honored as a distinguished citizen of Brunswick in 1977. He served with the 379th Bomb Group Heavy as a aerial gunner stationed in Kimbolton, Lancanshire, England during World War II. He was an active member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society. He was a life member and past commander of both American Legion Post 96, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10421, both of Brunswick. He was also a member of the 40&8 Voiture 155, in Frederick, and a life member of the William and Lee Post 5 DAV.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1136, and the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 582. His civic activities included the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Brunswick Potomac Foundation. He was an active member of the Civil Air Patrol and had been a licensed pilot for many years.

He operated Vets Cabs and Care's Service Station for many years. He retired after 41 years from the B&O Railroad as a freight conductor, having worked in the yards and the westbound hump. He was a member of the B&O Veterans Association.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Careth Smith, Harpers Ferry, WV; and Debra Care, Brunswick; three sons, William R. Care, Sterling, Va.; Charles E. Care, Brunswick; and Donald W. Care, Manassas, Va.; brother, Ralph T. Care, West Palm Beach, Fl.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the New York Hill Methodist Church, Brunswick; interment was in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick; Military honors was provided by the Steadman-Keenan Post 96, American Legion; arrangements were by the John T. Williams Funeral Home, Brunswick.

Well attended funeral services for Mr. William Graham Care, were held at New York Hill United Methodist Church, Brunswick. Interment was in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick. Mr. Care was the husband of Edna Kline Care.

Arrangements were by the John T. Williams Funeral Home.
