Summary

Longtime employees Ruby Reed and Mary Kathleen Lowery at Roelke's Market in the Cincotta Building at 24 W. Potomac Street in the mid-1970s.

Bill Roelke moved the family grocery business that his father started into this location when the ACME supermarket moved to a modern location on New Addition in 1958. Roelke's sold freshly cut meat, produce and brand-name products. It was the place to go downtown for groceries for a generation until Mr. Roelke retired in 1977.

Jeff Walker: My first job was there but after Rick Campbell bought it. I worked with both these lovely ladies.
