- Maryland Restaurant
21 West Potomac Street
Fm Peter Wenner: this house was site of the Maryland Dining Room that was later known as the Himes Family Restaurant. It was operated by Mrs. Ida Himes, who was reputed to be an excellent cook. Another great cook at the restaurant was Mrs. Lula Foster.
Fm Toni Banks: My family has lived in this house for 47 years. What my family has told me she was built in the late 1800's, was a log cabin (we just had our bathroom redone and you can see the cabin beams within the walls.), she was a restaurant/lodge twice. I was told she is one of the first homes built in Brunswick. She has always been home to me I grew up here. This was my grandmother's home and is now owned by my mother. Built around 1871.
Fm Charlie Smith: This was Mrs. Himes restaurant in the 50's. My Aunt Lena Young worked there as a waitress. On the right hand side was the counter and the left side was the sitting area. There were also sitting tables on the right too. Great food. I went in there many times with my Daddy as a young kid.
