Potomac Street. Imagine trying that today? Perhaps the ladies were members of the American Red Cross? Note the old Knights of Pythias miniature golf house behind the truck. The leveled lot you see was home to the Swank Building next to the old People's Bank. Potomac Street, taken from a different angle than we have seen before, likely in the 1920s. Some mystery. There appears to have been stairs or maybe a red carpet on the right side of the theater. Potomac Street, which had been deteriorating for years following its closure in 1962. A theater at this location dated back to a 1912 lease at the Frederick County Courthouse. Hard to tell what the event was. 2) We've seen similar photos of this latticed stage at both the old Imperial Theater and a makeshift stage in a community space at the bottom of W. B Street before the 1955 Potomac River Bridge was constructed. This appears to have been the latter. See the heavy upright piano on the right....)
