The original German siding is covered with brick-patterned composition siding, but the original two-room plan is generally intact, with doors on the north and south elevations. Note the spectators and cars up on the hill. You could just drive in, park and watch a ballgame, as the playing field seemed to sit down in a hole. The field was located on the present site of the BHS football and lacrosse fields. It appears that Brunswick baseball legend Lee Merriman, seen on the far right, was the coach of this team. The boy to his immediate right is Maurice "Hot Dog" Phillips. He was rarely seen without his trademark pipe. Nininger was a great stock car racer and won Hagerstown Raceway track and Winchester "200" championships in 1974. Did he win any other championships? The brick structure occupied approximately one-fourth the area of the present church. Bricks from the mother church, St. Mark's, were used in the construction.
