Quality Food Market was located on the square corner at 1 E. Potomac Street, which was later occupied by S.N. Katz. It was owned by Luther B. Darr whose confectionary was next door. The confectionary later became Darr's Tavern following prohibition. Pictured behind the counter are believed to be John Hemp and Ed Darr. Both were meat cutters at the store as was Ralph Weedy at one time.
Note the merchandise stacked on high shelves like so many Brunswick stores in those days. This was in the era before self-service markets when shoppers would hand a list to the clerk, who would pick the items off the shelf, often with long hooks, and pack them up.
