The Distinguished Citizen program began in 1976 as part of Brunswick's Bicentennial celebration. Honorees over the years have included people who were born and raised here, or who moved here and spent a considerable part of their lives here, or who owned a business or provided a service here. The Distinguished Citizen program began in 1976 as part of Brunswick's Bicentennial celebration.
