The Distinguished Citizen program began in 1976 as part of Brunswick's Bicentennial celebration. Honorees over the years have included people who were born and raised here, or who moved here and spent a considerable part of their lives here, or who owned a business or provided a service here. What all of them have in common is that they made significant contributions to the fabric of this community.
The program lapsed in 1993 but has been revived 25 years later. The first group of honorees includes fifteen individual whose lives will be celebrated at a special reception to be held on October 21, 2018.
