Summary

This commissioned painting by Carl Butler for the Brunswick Heritage Museum was inspired in part to honor his grandfather George Butler, a stationary firemen on the B&O Railroad in Brunswick. It is still on display in the museum, hanging on the 2nd Floor as the central piece in expanding the interpretation of Brunswick’s history regarding slavery, the Civil War, and the African American contribution to the railroad.
