Summary

Allen L. ("Red") Phillips Jr served in the Pacific during World War II and was with fellow U.S. Marine forces in China ready to invade Japan when the war ended. He told his family a lot of his Marine comrades loved President Harry S. Truman for concluding the war the way he did.

Since Mr. Phillips was 17 when he enlisted in September of 1943, he needed his mother's permission to enter. His tour of duty ended in March, 1946.

Frank McKnight: He was my little league coach on the Lions. He was a true gentleman and very gentle man. His family marched in his foot steps. A pillar of the community!!!!
