The barber shop at the YMCA was a long-time gathering spot for railroaders. Some of the barbers who operated here included Albert Johnson, Cliff Porter, George Merriman, Bill Cage, Monkey Runkles and Ken Harshman.

John V. McMurry Sr: Spent many an hour waiting to get a hair cut. George clipping a little then talking baseball then a snip or two. Back to baseball then snip snip. And snipping the scissors the whole time he talked. Didn't like the wait so much but I learned about baseball. Looking back it was entertaining.
