This photo if from 1990 and shows the coaches and members of the BHS Swim Team.

No one can really tell you how competitive swimming can be. Only swimmers truly know. Like all other sports, practices were held every night and on Saturdays. Many practices consisted of swimming up to a hundred lengths of a pool.

As Coach Marshall pointed out “Other sports don’t get any harder than this.”

The boys had a small but powerful six man team competing against themselves and the swimmer in the next lane. As Kevin Conley put it, “Of course I want to beat my time and the guy racing against me ….”

I imagine that many of these team members might say competitive swimming helped develop their ability to focus both mentally and physically on achieving one's goals and it has served them well in life.

First Row (L to R) – Jamie Siekierski, Brandy Mulhern, Amy Herzog, Tasha King, Jamie Snoots, Kim Galey Second Row – Mary Cumberland, Kristen Fauntleroy, Heather Howard, Amy Simpson, Laura Cassell Third Row – Julie Howard, Matt Cockerham, Kevin Conley, Albert Remsburg, Robert Eakles, David Sheldon, Beth Shew Top Couple – Coach John Marshall, Coach Rick Conner.
