Summary
Justice William O. Douglas meets resistance from Brunswick mayor Jim Cummings and residents during his 8-day hike in March,1954 from Georgetown to Cumberland. Justice Douglas was walking to attract attention to his mission to preserve the towpath against a move to build a super highway along the canal.
Brunswick wanted it. Maybe because the Mayor & Council understood that the B&O was slowly leaving town? Imagine the difference if there were a highway there today.
