Dr. West was born in Petersville, MD and graduated from the University of Maryland Medical School in 1886 and was a surgeon for the B&O Railroad Hospital in Brunswick. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Brunswick B&O Railroad YMCA. Dr. West volunteered for medical services during World War I.
