Jacquelyn Ebersole: Father Kaplon had the home on Maryland Avenue built and the family lived there:
excerpt from Maryland's157 The Incorporated Cities and Towns published in 2000 "Several of the homes are of architectural interest. The Meyer Kaplon steel house was one of the avant-garde models displayed in the U. S Steel exhibit at the 1933 Chicago Worlds Fair . Two styles of early 20th-century Sears Roebuck homes are represented - one by the Dr. J. G. F. Smith house on Petersville Road and the other by the James Rau house on Rosemont Drive." The house arrived on the train and was delivered to Rosemont and put together on the spot. State Assessors say house was built in 1931 and I have always said Meyer went to the 1930 World's Fair. I never noticed the date difference in our book before. I am sure it was 1930's Fair
The rest of the Kaplon family continued to live at the Maryland Avenue home until their respective deaths.
