Summary
Kids and merchants on the 100 Block of East Potomac Street in the early 1900s. The water treatment plant would be just a couple dozen feet past the two water towers seen in the background. Its obvious looking at old photos that Potomac Street here was raised at least a foot or two by the time the road was paved. Some buildings with raised porches and 2 or 3 steps are now flush with the sidewalk, and today the hill to the tracks is much more obvious than in this shot.
