Summary
Levetta Kelley Thomas (left) was the first operator on the Brunswick telephone exchange. Here she is with her team in what we think is the 1920s. Having an efficient telephone system was crucial to the success of a railroad town.
Mrs. Thomas was 17 when she first went to work as an operator in 1917. She lived until she was over 100.
