Summary

Two years ago, David Macintosh and Jackie Ebersole set up luminaries in the Old Berlin Cemetery to honor those who are buried there. Since then, many of the tombstones in the cemetery have been repaired and uprighted. Saturday evening, 122 luminaries were placed in the cemetery marking these graves. In addition to the cars that drove by to enjoy the luminaries, a number of small groups, including families and couples, spent time walking through the cemetery, reading the names of those buried here. It was a time to reflect and pay respect to those who lived here and contributed to the establishment of Brunswick over 100 years ago. Their stories will eventually be made available on the cemetery’s webpage, which is currently under construction.
