Summary

Mervin Hurst at the old People's National Bank on West Potomac Street.

(From the Myer Kaplon photo collection at the Brunswick Community Library; Frederick County Public Libraries)

Patricia Moore Snoots: Mervin Hurst was my Uncle. He took me to the bank many times to show me the vault rooms and things of interest. You would have to walk through a large iron gate to get into the vault room.

Donna Mattson: I opened my first bank account in that bank after working at The Lace Store during the Christmas season when I was 16. My dad, Mike Comer, took me in. I remember being nervous but proud to have my own account.

Jeani Wolfe Knight: I got my first car loan there. I was 16 so my parents co-signed. I was so proud when I paid it off early. Of course right after, my engine blew up.
