Summary

This brick church, erected in 1819, was located in the old Reformed Church Cemetery just beyond the town limits of Lovettsville on the road to Point of Rocks. It was built on the site of previous log churches that dated back before the American Revolution. In many ways, this parish was the cradle of Brunswick since it was the primary congregation of German settlers, who migrated to the Lovettsville area from Pennsylvania and later made their way across the river.

A new house of worship was built in town and dedicated on June 1, 1902 as St. James Reformed Church. As the old church was torn down during the construction of the downtown church, bricks were reused for the present church.
