Brunswick Business: Roelke's Market

This is from an ad in the program from the July 30, 1955 bridge dedication ceremonies. "Roelke's Best Food Market" Mr. L.E. Roelke, Mr. William Roelke, Mrs. Ruby Reed, Mr. Darrol Snoots, 124 W. Potomac Street Brunswick, Maryland Phone 2441. (Photo courtesy of Bill Shewbridge)Thanks to Smoketown History

From Facebook: Peter Wenner: First time i've seen a picture of Lloyd Roelke and this was the year before he retired. Ruby and Darrol Snoots were evidently with the Roelke's for a long time, too. Darrol previously drove the delivery truck for my grandfather at the City Meat Market in the next block. July 9, 2011

Ann Beacht : I am delighted to see this old photo of my grandfather, father and two of the wonderful people I saw almost daily during my childhood. Darrol and Ruby were longtime, devoted employees and really nice people-- very tolerant of the boss's kids, I might add. July 9, 2011

Garland Young: I worked at Roelke's store when I was going to high school. Bill dad taught me how to be a butcher. But first I had to get a half of cow out of the meat cooler. Don't know how I did but I was able to get the half of beef to the meat block. I only weight 118 at the time. Really enjoyed working there. Oct 20, 2014
