Summary

This photo is from the 2001 BHS Yearbook and shows the members of the Junior Varsity Girls Soccer Team. Growing up, when playing a sport I only used my feet for running, walking, and standing while on the field. I never appreciated the level of concentration and control required to dribble a soccer ball down the field and keep it in one's possession using only one's legs and feet. Though my high school had a soccer team, I had no friends who played it so I took no interest in the sport. I was not fortunate enough like BHS team member Shawna Scheiwtzer who in the yearbook stated "I really didn't want to play soccer this year, but my friends encouraged me to play. I am really glad that I decided to play because I have really enjoyed this season and I can't wait until next year." Although the Junior Varsity Team did not have an overall winning season, they did defeat Frederick High School a much larger school then Brunswick, and had "a memorable moment" by defeating Hedgesville High School. I took that quote from the yearbook but have no background on why the victory was "memorable" so perhaps someone on the team can explain its significance in the comments below ;=)! Front Row (L to R) - Shannon Murphy Second Row - Shawna Schweitzer, Jessica Lastner, Greta Wengenroth, Brittany Stull, Samantha Remsburg, Tabitha Femenia, Kristin Quijada Third Row - Coach Karen, Heather Stevenson, Amanda Stowers, Bethany Duvall, Krista Wishard, Coach Smith
