Summary

From Richard Foot, we send our gratitude to Carol and Norman Birzer for the gift of an antique pint-sized pasteurized milk bottle from the former Souder & Chick Dairy in Brunswick, Maryland.

Who remembers Souder & Chick milk delivered to your back door in the morning? For us Baby boomers and our parents & grandparents, the milk was there when we woke up.

This successful dairy business started serving Brunswick and the surrounding area in 1928. The dairy business soon merged to become Titus and Chick Dairy, which later became Souder and Chick Dairy and remained in operation until 1962.

George Chick and Woody Souder were active in the community. Mr. Chick, who lived to over 100, served on local boards and with his wife Ethel, were active at Grace Church.

As we're interested to learn your reminiscences, please weigh in!

My sister and I called the milk man who delivered to our house Charlie Stocks, “Charlie Chick”. He used to park on the side of Souder Road and walk across the field to our back door. The box was still there when my parents sold the house in 2013....Peter

Jacquelyn Ebersole: In the spring of 1943 my second grade class with Mrs. Lenhart walked from A & 6th Ave. Schoolhouse out The Gummy to H Street and then out Souder Road to the dairy. It was located at the Souder farm. Sharon Souder, the oldest Souder child was in our class. We walked the whole way, the same as when my mother took us out to the swimming pool. We lived one door from the school on A Street.
