Swank & Son Hardware operated out of a big building on W. Potomac Street to the left of People's Bank (later Farmers & Mechanics) that was razed for the right-of-way to the present Potomac River bridge. It was briefly home to People's Home & Auto after the Swanks went out of business in the post World War II era.
