Who remembers Mr. Horine's driver's ed class? This was a "driver simulation analysis" that was probably ahead of its time. This photo is from 1962 at the old high school, which judging from the peeling paint on the wall, was decaying rapidly.

The delighted student is Norma Dawson.

Mr. Horine taught at both the old and new high schools for about a generation of Brunswick kids.

Randy Derflinger: I remember he asked what do we do driving down a exit ? The entire class got it wrong as we all said slow down and merge. He said no... accelerate and merge ! He also taught for nighttime driving watch the power lines for upcoming vehicles as you will see them 1st. At 60 I still recall Mr Horines wisdom.

Joan Hale: Mr. Horine was my driving instructor, and on the first day I drove, there was about 2" of snow on the road and I hit a pile of snow going full speed. I think my driving scared him more than it did me!
