Smoketown History (Brunswick, Md.) I remember our four digit phone number when I was a toddler, around 1958. Our number was 9346 for many years and then it became 834-9346. We had this number for over 20 years. I remember having the party lines. Back then no phone call was confidential. It was too easy to listen in. We had a nosy neighbor who would listen in. You could always tell when it was her. My Mom would be talking to someone then I would here Mom say, "Hello Ms --------, how are you today?" and the neighbor would slam the phone down. Fond Memories.
