Harpers Ferry, West Virginia Where Three States Meet

One of the most picturesque spots in this locality is Harpers Ferry, often termed the "Switzerland of America". Steep wooded mountains surround the town and the waters of the Potomac and the Shenandoah Rivers divide Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia at this point. Historically important because it was the scene of John Brown's raid, which did much to precipitate the Civil War.
