Summary
This photo is from the 2003-04 BHS yearbook and shows the members of the Varsity Girls Volleyball Team.
Although the team did not have a winning season, Coach Reynolds who was the varsity coach the previous two years was pleased "watching them grow together as a team." The experience the team gained in terms of improving their passing and communication on the court would hopefully lead to a better season next year.
I always thought volleyball was a great sport and always wondered why Frederick County had no boys' volleyball teams since some other Maryland counties do have them. The sport itself is relatively inexpensive and being indoors is not affected by weather unless school itself is cancelled.
One negative is the fact that competitions are held in gyms with hardwood floors and since a point is scored if the ball hits the floor diving to prevent that is an "occupational hazard" of the game. Fortunately that is where knee and elbow pads come in handy.
