Summary

An autographed circa 1954 promo photo of longtime WFMD Radio personality "Happy Johnny" Zufall with his wife Vonnie and three children.

As a fiddler and band leader, he was probably best known at WFMD in Frederick, Maryland and as a deejay at WSIG in Mt Jackson, Virginia and WBAL in Baltimore. Baby Boomers in the tri-state area grew up listening to “Happy Johnny” in the morning.

It appears that his show aired between the 1950s until the 1970s. He was succeeded by Tommy Grumwell on morning broadcasts.

Some memories: Patricia Cook - "Every farmer in the county had Happy Johnny on in the morning. Working and staying in touch with the world."

Randy Huffer - "Listened to Happy Johnny every morning milking cows on a neighbor's dairy farm!"
