Summary
Wedding party photo of Doris Kelley and Wayne Barker at First Methodist Church on November 23, 1950. The Barkers were married by First Baptist minister Reverend Leonard D. Carmack and First Methodist minister George Bennett.
According to Mrs. Barker, "it was an ecumenical ceremony with a beautiful reception in the basement of the church. When Wayne and I came down the aisle, Dr. Smith stepped out in the aisle and said to the congregation, 'I was the first person who smacked her and I will be the first person to kiss her as Mrs. Barker.'"
Phyllis Roby Morsberger was the soloist and her aunt Mary Payne played the organ.
The wedding party is listed by Doris as follows: "Phyllis Roby Morsberger is on the front row on the left looking at the picture, Phyllis Long, Joan Burgee, Joyce Davis (all of us graduates of Brunswick High School), my cousin Sylvia Albaugh of Frederick High School (all of them in hot pink dresses), cousin Galinda Baker as maid of honor in a turquoise satin gown.
Wendell Stewart, best man for C. Wayne, H. Alfred Anderson, Gary Angleberger (cousins), Joan Burgee’s husband, Bob, and Grayson Koogle. Galinda, Alfred, Wendell and Grayson were all Brunswick High’s graduates 11, 12, or 13 years before our 1946.
Wayne’s father & mother are in front of him (Guy Barker, Iva Barker), my parents are in front of me—Vernon Franklin Kelley & Clara Thomas Kelley. Wendell’s 3 year old, Shirley Stewart was our flower girl."
